Why do I consider the Queen as overused?
Leni Robredo started her political career not entirely out of her own volition, but largely to continue the legacy of her late, well-known husband, Jesse Robredo. In other words, the Liberal Party (LP) appeared to leverage her as a political asset to help mitigate their loss.
She has claimed in her interviews that she had no initial plans to enter politics and that it was never part of her life plan. She felt compelled to continue her husband's legacy of public service. Without her husband's image and legacy, some might argue that her political influence would be limited. It suggests that her entry into politics was driven more by circumstance—specifically, the sudden death of her husband—rather than a pure personal ambition.
To me, she is primarily known as a good and loving mother, which explains her strong background in social work. However, that image alone may not be enough to navigate the dirty game of politics.
It seems that the LP used her to cushion the loss of Jesse Robredo, who was a significant political investment for the party back in 2010. Her image as a social worker and the value of her family name made her a fitting candidate to be included in their team. This suggests that her political career was less a product of her own will and more a result of external encouragement or peer pressure.
This might explain why some people, like the FPRD, view her as weak or easily influenced. There is a perception that some of her decisions may have been heavily guided, if not dictated, by party leaders — or worse, that her entire political career is a matrix of dictates.
Currently, she is running for mayor. I see her as a possible reservist for the LP—someone they can call upon for future political use.
Let’s see what she can achieve in her hometown. She might yet prove me wrong.
This is my theory.
